National Night Out 2016
Calendar Date:
Tuesday, August 2, 2016 - 5:00pm to 7:30pm
After a two year hiatus, the Molalla Police Department (MPD) is excited to announce that it will reconvene hosting its annual National Night Out event to promote child safety and welfare in our community. This year's event will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd from 5pm – 7:30pm at the Molalla Adult Center, Long Park, and surrounding areas (see map below for location).
Participants are invited to present displays, demonstrations, and/or handouts relating to child safety and welfare. Current participants include; Molalla Fire Department, Molalla Communications (w/free bike helmets), CCSO Sheriff’s Posse, Oregon Humane Society, OR Dept. of Forestry (w/Smokey the bear), NW Natural Gas, school busses, Molalla Public Works (with specialized equipment) and many more! We do not allow vendors or individuals to sell products or their services while at the event. However, participants may have business cards or handouts with contact information on it to promote their services/business at a later time. For example; a clown may donate time to be at NNO as entertainment and could then pass out his or her card to interested parties after the performance.
The National Night Out event is also soliciting entertainment acts to fill some of the vacancies that were present for previous events. Everyone who participates does so on a voluntary basis, however crowds in the past have been as large as 700-800 people. Our wish list includes:
• 2-3 Entertainment groups to perform a demo for 10-15 min for the general crowd. (Dance group/singer/band/activity group)
• Clown/balloon animals/face painter to provide free services to the general crowd.
• Photographer for the event (for overall pictures to be given to the City)
• Other groups that may want to help promote Child Safety and Welfare.
Prior approval is required for participation. To reserve a table or participate in National Night Out, please contact Ronda Stone with the Molalla Police Department to discuss the details. She can be reached at; rstone@molallapolice.com, 503-829-8817, or stopping by the police station at 117 N. Molalla Ave.
