Beautification Action Team
Introduction:
The Beautification Action Team meets one time every 3-4 weeks to share project ideas and advance projects already in-work. From there, volunteers select the projects they want to be involved in and work/partner with their co-volunteers, the broader community, the business community, local governments, non-profits, contractors, artists, and more, to develop plans and implement action that achieves the desired outcome.
If you have an idea to Beautify the Molalla area please contact one of the co-chairs to share it, or come to the next meeting and share it with the group!
It is never too late to join this effort and serve your community; the commitment is minimal, but your impact may be tremendous… you can join for just one project or more, it’s up to you. Just contact either Team Co-Chair (email included below), or email communityplanner@cityofmolalla.com.
Mission:
The Beautification Action Team is focused on identifying opportunities, creating plans, and implementing action to improve the appearance of the Molalla area by focusing on: 1) Curb appeal in business areas (e.g. flowers, artwork, building facades, lighting, banners, color); 2) Improving Molalla’s ingress/egress points aesthetically; 3) Promoting signage for information and wayfinding.

Current Projects In-Work:
- Repair & Replace Story Walk Signs – On or about May 1, 2021 volunteers from the Beautification Action Team, and other local organizations, will utilize already secured grant funding to repair, replace, and/or move signs from the Story Walk located in multiple places around the greater Molalla area. This project will repair and restore a valuable piece of Molalla culture while curing the blight caused by vandalism and storm damage.
- Highway 211 Advocacy – Volunteers from the Beautification Team have fixed their sights on improving Highway 211, which is owned and maintained by ODOT. The first step in this action is drafting a letter of advocacy to be endorsed by community members who share the concern about the status of the highway, then send it to ODOT to hopefully lay the groundwork for discussion that ultimately sees the highway being improved.
- Wayfinding Signage and Kiosks – This project is being supported by all of the action teams and the steering committee, as well as City Staff. Currently, a grant application is being prepared to fund the purchase and construction of the signs/kiosks. The action teams are brainstorming sign content, locations, and design, which will then be reviewed by the steering committee.
- Native American Mural – One Beautification Team member has already been working the background on this, more information will be shared as it becomes available. If you are interested in this project don’t hesitate to reach out and we will connect you with the person discussing background.
