About the City Council

The City Council is composed of a mayor and six Councilors elected from the City at large for terms of four years each, and for no more than two consecutive terms. A Council President is elected by the Council at the beginning of each year to perform the duties of Mayor in the absence of that officer.

Citizen Comments

Citizens are welcome to present information or raise issues relevant to the City during the "Public Comment" portion of the City Council agenda, if their issue is not related to an item on the agenda. Citizens are allowed up to 3 minutes to speak, and are asked to complete a comment form prior to the meeting and present it to the City Recorder. The Council generally does not dialog with the citizen, but may direct staff to address the issue. See guidelines for speaking before the City Council.
