Local Tourism Funding Program for 2008-09
The Clackamas County Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department (CCTCA) has worked for the last several years to develop and support tourism from the local level to the county-wide level. The goal is to coordinate in the many cities and communities of the County the visitor services, attraction development and facility improvements needed to ensure that this destination exceeds visitors’ expectations and derives the greatest possible economic impact from visitor spending.
This coordination will strengthen the “Oregon’s Mt. Hood Territory” brand and raise awareness of the breadth and depth of this destination. At this time there are 13 Tourism Action Plans being implemented with funding set aside by CCTCA for this purpose. This program is set up to give local leadership a voice in the tourism development and marketing decisions regarding the use of County room tax funding for programs and promotions in their own area, while ensuring that the county’s branding and strategies are supported for maximum efficiency and results. Importantly for all, the plan should allow for continued growth of the program without changing the underlying system each year.
